Details And Frequency For Fire Service Maintenance

The following outlines the scope and frequency of testing as required in Australian Standard 1851 – 2012

Fire Detection and Alarm Systems

Fire detection and alarm systems will be maintained to AS 1851 – 2012 Section 6.

• AS 1851 – 2012 Section 6 Table 6.4.1.2 monthly.
• AS 1851 – 2012 Section 6 Table 6.4.1.3 on a six-monthly basis (not required).
• AS 1851 – 2012 Section 6 Table 6.4.1.4 on an annual basis.
• AS 1851 – 2012 Section 6 Table 6.4.1.5 on a 5-yearly basis.

Emergency Warning Intercom System

OWS and EWIS will be maintained to AS 1851 – 2012 Section 6.

• AS 1851 – 2012 Section 6 Table 6.4.3.1 on a monthly basis.
• AS 1851 – 2012 Section 6 Table 6.4.3.2 on a yearly basis.

Hydrant/Hose Reel Pumping System

Fire Hydrant systems should be maintained to AS 1851 – 2012 Section 4.

• AS 1851 – 2012 Section 4 Table 4.4.2 on a six-monthly basis.
• AS 1851 – 2012 Section 4 Table 4.4.3 on a yearly basis.

Hose reels should be maintained to AS 1851 – 2012 Section 9.

• AS 1851 – 2012 Section 9 Table 9.4.1 on a six-monthly basis.
• AS 1851 – 2012 Section 9 Table 9.4.2 on a yearly basis.

Passive Fire and Smoke Containment Systems – Fire Doors

Fire Doors (hinged and pivoted door sets) will be maintained to AS 1851 – 2012 Section 12.

• AS 1851 – 2012 Section 12 Table 12.4.3.1 on a six-monthly basis.
• Fire and Smoke barriers/ walls will be maintained to AS 1851 – 2012 Section 12. AS 1851 – 2012 Section 12 Table 12.4.1.1 on an annual basis.

Portable Extinguishers

Portable Extinguishers will be maintained to AS 1851 – 2012 Section 10.

• AS 1851 – 2012 Section 10 Table 10.4.1 on a six-monthly basis.
• AS 1851 – 2012 Section 10 Table 10.4.2 on a yearly basis.
• AS 1851 – 2012 Section 10 Table 10.4.3 on a five-yearly basis.

Fire Blankets

Fire blankets will be maintained to AS 1851 – 2012 Section 11.

• AS 1851 – 2012 Section 11 Table 11.4 on a six-monthly basis.

Hydrants / Landing Valves

Fire hydrants will be maintained to AS 1851 – 2012 Section 4.

• AS 1851 – 2012 Section 4 Table 4.4.1 on a six-monthly basis.
• AS 1851 – 2012 Section 4 Table 4.4.2 on a yearly basis.

Annual cause and defect testing

Protection Engineering will complete the annual Full Function Fire System Test as per AS1851 and complete the test matrix of functions relevant to the property
